A jar of tiny creatures that feed on ambient sound. Play music near it and a living scene slowly grows.
How it works
Press Use microphone and allow access, then play music or make noise nearby. No microphone? Demo sound feeds it a built-in beat instead.
Each creature eats a different part of the sound. Bass grows the coral bulbs and ants, mids grow the teal stalks and fleas, treble grows the pale fronds and drifting jellyfish, and overall loudness spreads the floor moss.
Louder sound makes them grow and move more. Well-fed creatures scatter glowing spores that hatch into whatever the current sound favours, so a whole scene builds up over time.
Let it fall quiet and the hungry ones begin to sing — coloured rings ripple out and a soft chorus calls for food, feeding the jar just enough to keep itself alive.
Appetite speeds growth up or slows it down, and Reset terrarium starts a fresh jar.
Best left running with music playing. Growth is deliberately slow, so give it a few minutes to fill in.
